2020-2021 Catechism Instruction Update
Dear families and friends,
One of our chief goals as a St. Mark Ministry staff is to help parents effectively carry out their God-given responsibility to raise their children as disciples of Jesus. One of the ways we do that is through Catechism instruction, a process where we partner with you and equip you to teach your child the basics of what the Bible teaches, to prepare them to take Communion, and to lead them to the point that they can say, “this is what I believe.”
We are always looking for ways to improve how we run this program, and we had some long term plans that we believed would help everyone - parents and children - to grow closer to each other and to Jesus. However, the pandemic forced us to implement some of those changes sooner than expected, and so we are working to integrate things as smoothly as possible.
This means that we will be doing things just a little differently this year than we have in the past. Not to worry - we will still be giving you God’s Word, and in a way that you can work through easily as a family. In fact, for the first part of this year’s course, we will be focusing on preparing your children to receive the Lord’s Supper. We will have more communication about this in the coming weeks, including a sign up to get set for this year’s program. For today, you don’t need to do anything. We just want to put this on your radar. We look forward to serving you and partnering with you in raising disciples of Jesus.
