Making an Impact, Without Even Knowing It
By Jenni Schubring, Director of Women’s Ministries
You may or may not know that my son, Micah, has a super fun side gig. He is a flag runner for the Green Bay Packers. He is one of four guys whose job is to run a large flag across the end zone when the Packers score a touchdown.
Micah is a HUGE Packer fan, and he makes the most of being on the field. When music starts playing, my kid dances.
Micah has an Instagram account where he posts about being “datpackerflagguy.” At the most recent home game, he received an Instagram message from a fan who has seats close to where Micah stands as he waits to run the flag, telling him that someone wants to get his autograph. This is not a common occurrence, and he was happy to find this fan and meet her.
This woman can speak, but she is deaf.
The woman explained, “I see you at every game. I appreciate it when you dance, because then I know that the music is playing.”
He makes her experience at Lambeau better.
I share this with you because this is an example of the impact we have just by being ourselves. Sometimes we get to see the impact we have, and sometimes we have no idea.
But we make an impact.
Our Father uniquely designed us to make an impact right where we are, doing what he has called us to do…
Love God and Love People.
The world would have never thought that an infant, who once had a feeding trough as a bed, would have the impact that Jesus had (and still has). In every instance where we get to read about Jesus’ life, we get to see Him just as He was. Talking to people, healing people, serving people, teaching people, and most importantly, dying and rising again for all people…His impact is eternal.
May you be reminded of Jesus’ impact on your life. And may you embrace the fact that you have an impact on the world around you.
