Fueling Your Life with God’s Truth

This morning, I made it to my gym for a strength class. If I’m honest, it’s been awhile since I’ve gone. My goal right now is to go once a week, though sticking to even that has been a challenge.

When I walked into the room, I noticed the trainer had set up four stations. We did eight rounds at each station—40 seconds of work followed by 20 seconds of rest. As I looked around, I was surprised to realize that I was the youngest one in my group. That’s not something I can usually say anymore. Even though they were older than me, many of them were stronger. In fact, I found myself trading weights with some of the women in their 60s and 70s so I could use their lighter ones. Those women could outdo me at almost every station.

Ok. Every station.

Why?

Because they put the time in. They are coming consistently to class. They are fueling their bodies with the right stuff. They are doing the work. I cannot say the same for myself.

How similar is that to our spiritual lives? Are you putting the time in? Are you regularly spending time with Jesus? Are you fueling your life with God’s Truth? Are you doing the work?

If so, wonderful. How are the fruits of the Spirit showing up in your life?

If not, what is one thing you can implement that will strengthen your faith?

I’d love to know your answers.

Paul writes in chapter 1 of Ephesians: “Ever since I first heard of your strong faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for God’s people everywhere, I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.”
